ELCOGAS set up a Technological Group in order to respond to the needs for knowledge acquisition and to support IGCC technology demonstration. This has allowed the consolidation of useful tools for training and operating analysis as well as specific programs in the materials and environment fields.
The programme is financed from both Spanish (PIE, PROFIT) and European Commission funds (THERMIE, CECA, CARNOT, VPM)

Results:
- Project within the framework of the Strategic Action on Waste Treatment and Management Technologies of the National Environment Programme.
- To determine the waste reduction possibilities due to the joint gasification with coke and coal in the ELCOGAS IGCC plant.
- Research on the composition of the syngas obtained by co-gasification of different waste to determine its feasibility for use as fuel in the gas turbine.
- Demonstrate that co-gasification with waste allows its use for electricity generation without affecting operating conditions or emission levels.
